I grew up in a rural province in Vietnam. I went to public schools and reached university only after several failed entrance exams. That was when I began to learn English.
I soon realized that academic credentials would not change my future. Good scores show knowledge, but they do not earn respect, opportunity, or income in the real world with real people.
I began to view communication not as a test, but as a weapon. I could either learn to wield it or stay invisible. I chose to fight. That decision took me farther than I ever imagined — from Vietnam to a world-class business school and then to the United States, where I learned to compete and win in English at the highest levels.
